KEX – First Hostel Stay EVER!

Hello world!

I checked in to KEX an hour or so ago, and with the bar fairly quiet at that time, went upstairs to check out the room situation. My roommates for the night are mostly from Switzerland, and are all here for the same reason I am; Airwaves. After bringing my bag in and getting situated (that took all of 2 minutes) we chatted about all of the epic shows we had collectively seen over the past week. We traded show stories like war stories; “Did you see The Internet?” “No, but did you see Vagina Boys?” “Haha, no, but that sounds like Thunderpussy; they were awesome!” The last band I saw closing night at Gaukurinn was called Hórmónar, a homonym of hormones that actually means “Whoremoans.” They competed and just won Icelandic Music Experiments. Suggestive names aside, these bands were all epic in their own way. Everyone I’ve spoken to has absolutely loved the experience, and the ability to “choose your own adventure” amongst the multitude of musical entertainment.

This is a short one, but the next post I’ll be summarizing all the amazing music (along with links) that I saw, heard, or wish I heard, here at Iceland Airwaves.
