It seems a little unbelievable to me, but it’s already been three months since I left the United States. So much has happened since then that it’s going to be hard to catch up, but I’ll do my best in the following posts.
To summarize the adventure, at this point I’ve been to Iceland, Sweden, Denmark, England, Thailand, South Africa, and now Australia.
After Scandinavia, I decided while freezing my butt off in London (it was just barely December, and I still had a month) that I needed someplace warm to go. Luckily for me, my cousin Garrett had a fantastic suggestion; he had grown up in Thailand, and couldn’t speak more highly of making the trip. That did it. 3 days later I landed in Bangkok, and my first adventure in Asia began. But that story will be better left to it’s own post.
After a crazy month following my heart and hopscotching all over the north and south of Thailand with some fantastic new folks I met in Bangkok (BKK) it was time to head back west. So I boarded a flight from BKK to Cape Town, South Africa via Doha. What a long trip! Luckily a leg of it included my first experience in the Airbus A380. Definitely a nice ride, and I have to say that Qatar Airlines pulled through with the upgrade to the bulkhead exit row. I had legroom for miles!
Arriving in Cape Town, I got myself situated in a hostel at the top of Long Street; the heart of the action downtown. I then moved to the family vineyard, Springfontein, about 2.5 hours from Cape Town in a cute little town called Stanford. There I stayed for about 2 weeks to celebrate my brother-in-law’s 60th birthday with family. I then shipped back to Cape Town for another few nights, before jumping a flight for Perth, Australia, which is where I find myself now at a fantastic little coffee shop/bar/venue called The Bird.
Thanks for reading! More details to follow soon!
