Good morning!!!!
It’s being yelled from the rooftops around here. Not only does it sound like I have my own personal alarm clock at 5:45 every morning, but one step outside (just to my personal outdoor bathroom) and I am bombarded by a cacophony of sounds. It’s as if I’m in a stadium full of roosters rooting for their favorite ball team. It’s incredible! In fact, they’re still going on and on now. The low din of the rest of the wildlife fills in the gaps.
Sleeping last night was a challenge. After passing out around 10PM, I awoke at midnight with the distinct feeling of something crawling on me. (Oh, and the aforementioned rooster just jumped on my roof.) Lo and behold, after tossing and turning and trying to get these little invisible buggers off of me, I finally rolled out of bed and shone my headlamp on the culprit. A trail of ants was marching along the head frame of my bed. No wonder I felt like I had ants in my hair…I did. I tried looking for a food source, but gave that up as quickly as I’d begun. They hadn’t gotten to one of the pillows, so I grabbed it and made for the other end of the bed. Subtle, but it proved to be enough. After fifteen minutes of battling the hangers-on (mostly from my hair!) I finally had a place by myself.
So here I am, more or less rested, with several pages of reading yet to go before my third and last day of my Open Water PADI certification. We head to Pulau Menjangan today for my 18 meter dive. This is fifty percent deeper than my lowest dive of 12 meters yesterday. After completing these dives, I’ll be taking (and hopefully passing!) the test to become certified.
So I’m back to the books, and readying myself for the big dive! Wish me luck!
